New Orleans Bowfishing

Bowfishing in New Orleans is the newest tourist attraction. We show residents and visitors to Louisiana another side of New Orleans. When you think of a party city New Orleans is on the top of the list. Your minds automatically gravitate to Mardi Gras floats and plastic beads, the Super Dome and the Saints. You get to appreciate century old architecture while walking down brick paved streets. But you’re missing something. Minutes outside the city line is a part of the state few people ever get to see, let alone experience. We bring our clients into the marsh lands of Louisiana not on a tour but an experience. You get to feel what it is like to skim across the surface of the marsh with just inches of water beneath you. You’ll get to observe the quiet land come alive with wildlife that you have only seen in pictures and behind glass walls all while our team bring you to some of the best honey holes in the world.

Our Captains have spent years scouting the marshes of southern Louisiana. They study the always changing maze of marsh so that they can find that isolated pond of redfish that will fill up your ice chest. There is no previous experience necessary. The captains and deck hands will teach you what to look for and teach you the safest and proper technique to use all gear to ensure you have the best chance of landing that big one. Whether you are an avid sportsman or have never used a bow before our crew will be there to help and show you the skills needed to have a extreme trip. We cater to our clients, a father and son looking for an adventure, college students looking to add to their story, entrepreneurs in town for business or just a group of friends looking to have a great time. Nawlins Bow fishing has done the work for you. We know where  the fish are and how to teach you to catch them.

On the night of your excursion we will meet at the agreed upon boat launch. Locations of the starting points may change due to tide and current fishing locations. Our Goal is to put you where you need to be in order to fill your ice chest.

The arrows we use have a removal barb tip that holds on to the fish. The line are attached using a slide guide system which prevent arrow snap back.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR BOWFIHING CHARTER?
Out in the marsh you will see a variety of marine species. You will have an opportunity to shoot at
redfish, flounder, gar, drum and a few more. You will also see local wildlife such as the American Alligator, raccoons, Nutria, and birds of all species. A typical trip will last anywhere from 4-5 hours. So it is important to try and get some rest before the excursion because you will not want to sit down once the fun begins.
Bowfishing is an extremely fun and rewarding venture but some times can be frustrating, so to help you get the most out of your trip. We have compiled a
list of tips for you.

  • AIM LOW (you will hear this phrase repeatedly on your trip. Due to the refraction of the water you must aim a few inches below the target your are trying to shoot. Imagine there is a tennis ball under the belly and aim for the ball. The number one frustration in this sport is not being able to hit the fish so you have to remember to, “AIM LOW.”
  • NO TUNNEL VISION (something is always moving whether it is a flounder,a boat or you. Something or someone is always on the move. Keep scanning the water to find what you are looking for.
  • BE PATIENT (don’t rush your shot, calm down, breath, aim, and shoot. Often time people shoot to quickly, when just being patient will give you an opportunity for a higher percentage hit.
  • GET CLOSE (this goes back to being patient, some times a target will stay still and let you get right over them. When this happens move your bow a little closer to the water, an extra 6 to 12 inches make a big difference in your hit/miss ratio.
  • HAVE FUN (this is a sport and just like any other we play for fun, it isn’t about winning but enjoying the game.

Hear From our Owner

I remember the first time I went Bowfishing in New Orleans. We were in what they call a "mud boat" a buddy of mine invited me to go, I jumped at the chance. You never have to ask me twice to get out on the water. We left the house at around 7 pm and was at the launch for 7:30 and at the first spot for 8 pm. I was very surprised at how quickly we started seeing fish. It didn't take me long to start shooting at fish. I missed a lot and I was having trouble spotting the fish before they spotted me. I guess I was to focused on looking right in front of me and not ahead of me. It only took me about 10 misses before I stuck my first fish, and just like that fish I was stuck on New Orleans Bowfishing. Fast Forward to now, I have launched Nawlins Bowfishing to share this sport that I have fallen in love with. I cannot explain the calm and excitement a bowfishing trip can bring. The water and Marsh is white and calm while you search for the target and when you stick that arrow into the fish the Marsh comes alive with excitement and awe while your fellow anglers offer you word of praise and support. I can only hope you take the opportunity to come out on the water and experience this with me and my partners. Thank you so much for choosing us as your go-to New Orleans Bowfishing Charter."
